Why Smart Tokens

ERC-20 was built for fungibility. Not compliance.

On Ethereum, compliance is middleware — smart contracts that wrap the token. Move it to another contract, trade on an unapproved DEX, or bridge to another chain, and the rules stop applying. TX Smart Tokens encode compliance at the protocol level. The rules travel with the token.

ERC-20 Ethereum
Smart Token TX
Freeze
Custom contract required. Bypassed by transferring to an unwrapped address.
Freeze
Protocol operation. One transaction, all transfers halt globally. Instant.
Whitelist
Frontend check only. Secondary markets and DEXs ignore it entirely.
Whitelist
Validator-enforced at every transfer. No market, no contract can bypass it.
Clawback
Not possible after transfer. Recovery requires months of legal process.
Clawback
Issuer recovers tokens from any holder. One transaction. Immediate.
DEX Access
Cannot prevent tokens from entering liquidity pools or yield aggregators.
Block Smart Contracts
Protocol rejects deposits to any smart contract. No retail leakage.

Every compliance rule executes pre-transaction at the validator level. Not post-hoc. Not advisory. Deterministic.
